DAY 94 in Myanmar: DISAPPOINTED
After every mass I ride a crappy cab straight back home. But something happened today that made me think about the nature of human beings.
I walked farther away from the church to get a cab. I saw an African mom with two kids wrapped in her arms and another two on both sides grasping her dress. And may I add that it was extremely hot today. Anyway, they were also waiting for a cab. So I hailed one and before I was about to say something she said: “You can go ahead, we’ll just take the next cab.”
I said to her: “No, please take this cab. You were here first.”
African mom : “Are you sure?”
Me: “Yes, I’m sure.”
African mom: “Thank You!”
They went inside the cab and she smiles and says thank you for the last time. I nod with a grin.
At this point, I felt really good about people.
So now it was my turn to get a cab, I hailed one and a couple went straight pass me and took my cab.
I just easily shrugged off what happened but when I heard them talk I got disheartened. They were a Filipino couple.
Shame.
